Data Dump From A Cluttered Mind…Again.

Posted in: Uncategorized

Well, here we are at the edge  of the weekend.  I thought I would remove a few layers of mind clutter.

(1) Clay Aiken is going to be a daddy.  The mother is Jaymes Foster, a record producer and Clay’s best friend.

Seems Clay was a “donor” via artificial means.  Not a chance in the world he climbed in the straddle….if you know what I mean.

(2) The South Carolina legislature has officially lost its freaking mind.
Two weeks ago it had a chance to make it “illegal” for teens to text while driving.  It seemd obvious, but for some insipid reason, they declined.

Now they have veered from logic with this weeks gem.

When preparing to pass a bicycle on a public road you now have to make sure you maintain at least 5 feet from your vehicle and the bike.

Each morning, around 7:45 I see a goober on a bike peddling his way down Garlington road, at about 10 miles per hour.  Behind him will be no less than 20 cars, trucks, etc all wanting to get around this clown.  Garlington, like many roads is a narrow 2 lane, heavily traveled stretch of blacktop.

Thanks to the empty suits in Columbia you now have two choices.  The first is stay behind these Lance Armstrong wanna be’s, or option two is swerve over the line, into the other lane, to get around the rider.  Please keep in mind option two is against the law.

So here’s a flip of the finger to both groups of a-holes, the legislature and the spandex wearing douche bags on their cute lil bikes.  Both do a great job of screwing up traffic.

(3) Moving on….take a peek at the pic below.
prex-bump.jpg

Call me old fashioned but I would prefer the leader of the free world not bump chests.

(4) Now from the idiot file…Sharon Stone.
She made some comments regarding Karma, China, Tibet and earthquakes.
Check out the video.

http://www.tmz.com/2008/05/26/sharon-stone-calls-chinese-earthquake-karma/

This is perfect example of a woman that makes a much more favorable impression by crossing her legs on screen than opening her mouth on the red carpet.

(5) Speaking of stupid…..I’m sure all of you will be rushing to see the new “Sex and the City” movie.  It was a stupid series, with stupid women.  Now it’s a stupid movie with the same stupid women.

For some reason there is huge speculation as to whether it can knock off the new Indiana Jones movie as the top box office draw.  Let me save you the worry….they won’t.

(6) But, since we are talking about the “City” movie, and if some some perverse reason yu do decide to see the film. Consider this.  Cynthia Nixon, one of the gasbags in the film, decided she was a lesbian a year or so ago.  And to prove ti, she hooked up with the new love of her life…..a woman….sort of. nixon-and-pal.jpg

Well I think that just about does it.

Thanks for your patience.

Earlier today I posted a series of pics entitled “The Many Faces of Hillary.”  As the day unfolded I thought maybe, just maybe in the spirit of fairness, I should poke around and get some of McCain and Obama.

Here you go.

First Up the Arizona Firecracker……

Last but not least, the great communicator…..the man that can throw down a speech…..the master of the new technology…

obama.JPGAs they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.  Yes friends its time for change….to someone who has yet to master the phone.

Its been a few weeks since we last took a peek at the political landscape.

Since Hillary and her folks are about to break out in a chorus of “Happy Tails”, I thought it might be a good time to see the many faces of Mrs. Clinton.  Enjoy.

Goodbye Earle.

Posted in: Uncategorized

He was 88 years old when he died yesterday.

He wrote music and parts of it became “background” for our lives.

Chances are the name “Earle Hagen” doesn’t mean much to you, but the next time you hear the theme for The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “That Girl” and “The Mod Squad” you will be hear just some of the original music he wrote for over 3,000 TV shows. For me he will always be the guy that wrote the theme for the one show that ALWAYS makes me feel better when I hear start.  The best television show of ALL time, The Andy Griffith Show.  Perfection. Thanks Earle for giving me almost 50 years of feeling good when I hear the opening strains of that song..

Humane Society…..gone nuts!

What the hell??

So, I’m sitting here in the opulent Rock 101 studios when a commercial comes on with a “dad” talking to his child about growing up, new urges,  safe sex and making decisions.  But wait….its not his child it’s his CAT!!  Then the soothing voiced announcer coos that you need to spay and neuter your dogs and cats because….”it’s the only form of birth control they understand.”  The only form of birth control your DOG AND CAT understand.

Apparently her pets are waaay smarter than any pet I’ve had and probably smarter than the majority of kids having kids these days.     Woof!

The Big Top Loses it’s Ringmaster.

After over three decades as the ultimate showman in NASCAR, Humpy Wheeler did one final high kick and exited stage left this past weekend.H.A. ’Humpy’ Wheeler,...

As a man who made a 50 year old track look new and exciting he left with one last great show and thanks to Kasey Kane and perfect weather it was classic Humpy.

I met Mr. Wheeler, very briefly a few years ago at Lowes Motor Speedway. I was the guest of MCI and he stopped by their suite to make sure everything was to our liking.  He was soft spoken and in a hurry.  A man always in a rush to get to the next thing….to make sure it was to the customers liking.  During that same visit I got to met Joe Gibbs.  Both were classy and carried themselves with a low level of self importance.  Both are the best at what they do.

Brian France says he might be able to find something for Mr. Wheeler within NASCAR. I hope he does.
I get the feeling his “2nd act” could be a doosey.

Can I get fries with that?

For the 2 or 3 of you that read this space and its clutter, you may be aware that the issue of “illegal aliens” has popped up from time to time.

Now it’s important to understand that I am not against anyone migrating to the U.S……as long as they follow the rules.  In fact the second wave of my extended family from Germany will hit the ground next month.

My problem is that in the past folks who came here wanted to assimilate into the culture and become Americans.  Now it seems we are losing our identity and that loss is being fostered by many businesses that pander to the language of the former homeland.

As an example, my wife left McDonalds this morning and saw a sign saying “Thank You” and under that was “Gracias” .  I’m surprised there hasn’t been a discriminatory lawsuit filed on behalf of other McDonalds customers, who reflect a lineage other than Hispanic. McDonalds has opened the door with their attempt to pander to those from Spanish speaking locations while ignoring others.

To remedy this, they might have to modify that sign to reflect their appreciation for the patronage from those from the following lands.

Danke – German

Grazie – Italian

Merci – French

mo arigat – Japanese

Spasiba – Russian

D?kuji –Czech

Wa’-do – Cherokee

Tak – Danish

As my brother Levi once said. “damn….this is a mess.” Levi has always been the more erudite member of the Wilson clan. :)

To those that have served in the armed forces of this country, I hope you will have a great Memorial Day and accept our thanks for your service.

To the families of those that made the ultimate sacrifice nothing I can say will fill the void.
As the song said “All gave some. Some gave all.  “

Be safe.

Another Legend Retires?

Posted in: Uncategorized

One of the most prolific characters in the world of NASCAR is set to “step down” after this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600, the one and only, Humpy Wheeler.

smack_humpy_440.jpg

Wheeler, who enjoys a long-standing reputation as one of the legendary promoters in racing, said all the right things, that he was looking forward to some time off, that his wife, Pat, was happy with the move, but the abruptness of the announcement and Wheeler’s own admission that the retirement wasn’t entirely on his own terms left lingering questions unanswered. “Some of it’s on our own terms, I won’t say it all is,” Wheeler said. “Some of it is … and I’ll let it rest at that.”

Humpy is Lowe’s Motor Speedway peroid.  Can anyone ever fill those shoes?  Not in our lifetime.

VINDICATION!!!

Posted in: Uncategorized

A number of weeks ago I said David Cook would be / should be the next American Idol.Even though it seemed everyone was on the Archeltta band wagon I held to my convictions and stayed with Cook.  To his credit the 17 year old did do a great job on the final night of competition and Simon Cowell said he had won the night but, I continued with Cook.  Last night I was vindicated.

Now, the winner has recorded the annual lame ballad that is required and the runner-up will do well.  Overall the tack record for the “winners” has been less than stellar.  Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard have been dropped by the labels, and I keep expecting to read that Fantasia Barino was found in a cheap motel, dead from a drug overdose.  For the most part, 2nd place is the place to be. No matter how it turns out I keep telling people the real stars are not the singers.

For my money, and it hurts to admit this, the real star of the show is Ryan Seacrest.  He is very quick on his feet and somehow manages to herd a group of new comers to TV through several hours of live television, always finishing up on time.  Then let’s not forget the band. Someone did a remarkable job of collecting a group of VERY skilled artists (both players and singers).  There have been weeks every season that I would have preferred to lose the competitors and just let the band and backup singers wail for the entire show.  It’s a live show, which has become the cornerstone of FOX television.  It occupies multiple nights of their schedule from January thru the doorstep of June.  Regardless of how David Cook does, the program itself is a marvel of execution.  Now, I told you all that to tell you this….I was right. AGAIN!!
LOL. I crack myself up.
