60…and STILL Rockin. Here’s Tom Petty.

Posted in: Uncategorized

If you are an even semi frequent reader of my blog you know the “posting” regularity is unpredictable at best.  I write when the mood strikes. Sometimes I will go a week or more with nothing new (much to the chagrin of our web mistress Tracey).  Other times I may load new material 2 or 3 times in just a few hours.  Today is a good example of the latter.

Earlier I posted a video of environmental whack job Ed Begley Jr, losing it during a Fox News interview with Stuart Varney.  Now I want to take you in a totally different direction.

I have long admired Tom Petty.  He has shown an unwillingness to “go Hollywood” or sell out to the media establishment.  My favorite song of his is “I Won’t Back Down.”  I love it for a number of reasons, and those of you that actually know me, understand why.  To say that I can be “unyielding” is charitable.

During his 30 year career, yes it have been over 30 years, Petty has stuck to his guns on numerous occasions and the quality of his work supports that.  The video below aired yesterday on CBS’s Sunday Morning.  He was interviewed by Anthony Mason, just a few days before his 60th birthday.  Thaaat’s right 60!  This only proves one thing. When you feel you are right, you have to believe in yourself….and you are never too old to rock.

This chair is great if you want to hit the road in your RV or camper but don’t want to leave the joys of S&M behind. It folds up into it’s own little pouch bag so you can carry it on day hikes and you can blow it up(or order it blown up) with a bicycle pump or even by mouth. The exterior is not really tough enough for the rough stuff, but the simulated plastic covering makes clean ups a snap. Last week the lid blew off a portion of the climate change debate.

E-mails from a British research group indicated that there was the strong possibility that those in the climate change corner have been “cooking the books” to reflect their beliefs versus the facts.

Whether either side is more right than the other is still up for debate and that debate should be done by experts in the field.  One thing I’ve noticied is that when you ask someone on the climate change side to explain or defend a position they tend to get very shrill and nasty.  Take Ed Begley for example.

You Pick the Picker, We Play Them AND You Win!!

Posted in: Uncategorized

The Top 50 Guitarists of all time. Think about that for a moment. Think of the names that come to mind. Clapton, Stevie Ray, Nugent, that Van Halen Boy. The list seems to have no bottom, yet we are asking YOU to narrow the field for US.

We want YOU to tell us who you think reigns supreme on the fret board, the finger roll, the one with the “pluck” to be considered the best! Since you are already here on the website, go to the homepage, click on the Guitar option and give us YOUR vote. We helped by throwing up 70 or so “suggestions”. The rest is up to you.

Now what is in it for you? Fair question.
Every time you enter you become eligible for a very special prize, a Lynyrd Skynyrd guitar!
Once the votes are tabulated we do what we do best…we start counting down the top 50 by playing them.
Hell, we perfected the countdown, why not show off just before Axemas. Get it?

So, it’s in your hands, your mouse, your keyboard…..you know what I mean. Go forth and vote!

Mowing Grass — Priceless

Posted in: Uncategorized

Here is a soldier stationed in   Iraq  , stationed in a big sand box. He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil — to bring them good luck.

clip_image001

If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of a scissors. Sometimes we are in such a hurry that we don’t stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

Upon receiving this, say a little prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us

Well, well, well.  It seems the bloom is off the rose.  The kool-aid has won off, and curtain has been pulled back at NBC.

Over 1,000 Strong!!!

Posted in: Uncategorized

The 2009 Marine Corp Toys for Tots Toy Run was a HUGE success!!!

Thanks to a large out pouring of support from the upstate, thousands of kids in this area will have a great Christmas.

As the morning progressed you could sense the crowd was going to be large (and it was), and that the mood would be “festive” (and it was).  SDC13375When we rolled out of the Heritage Park in Simpsonville, we had over 1,000 bikes and thousands of toys.

Now, to those of you that might have been inconvenienced by the parade….. we apologize….kind of .  It takes a while to move over 1,000 motorcycles moving at 30 mph and estimates ran from 40 – 50 minutes for us to pass thru each intersection.  I’m sure it was frustrating to a lot of folks, but no one has ever been able to come up with a better way to get that many folks from Point A (Simpsonville) to Point B (Greenville Harley).SDC13378SDC13376

SDC13381Once we arrived it was a huge party with a mob of bikers feeling good about helping so many kids.  Thanks to the Marine Corp, Tony Liller, Greenville H.O.G., my buddy Tyler Winstead, and of course  Greenville Harley and Quaker Steak.  Their hard work will be felt SDC13382throughout the area on Christmas morning.  If you got angry with us due to traffic issues, we understand. We also hope you will show the same level of patience NEXT YEAR cause we are coming back with even more cycles and toys. HO HO HO!SDC13386

Please note the following story contains language that could be considered offensive .

The tough New York City fans were no match for Roger Daltrey, whose Use It Or Lose It tour hit the Nokia Theatre in the heart of Manhattan’s Times Square on Friday night (November 20th). The 2,100-strong crowd was clearly unimpressed with the sci-fi, retro cacophony of Daltrey’s young opening act Paper Zoo — who bravely soldered on against a vocally belligerent group of die-hard fans eager for a night of Whosongs.

Although Daltrey was good natured throughout the show, portions of the crowd grew impatient with his long between-song-banter. Daltrey was forced to pause during several of his introductions to tell the noisy crowd to shut up, and at one point lost his cool, shouting, “Do you wanna f***ing come up here and I’ll teach you how to really shout? You’re f***ing selfish.” Daltrey also had to urge members of the audience to stop smoking pot several times due to the fact that he sadly is now allergic to it and the smoke tends to constrict his vocal cords. He had to remind the tokers several times to take it easy with the smoke which was making its way onto the stage.

Clemson fans please help a M fan out here!

Posted in: Uncategorized

University_of_Michigan_m29_largeHey all you Clemson fans. I need to ask some advice from ya’ll. As most of you know I’m a huge Michigan fan, was born and raised in it like you all were born into the Orange and the paw. And you all also know that we went through a coaching change recently and a have had a couple of pretty down years lately too.  Now I need you to tell what does a fan do when he’s not happy with what the coach is doing and the way the team has crashed into the ground the past two years. You see it all started when we hire former West Virginia head coach and one time Clemson assistant Rich Rodriguez. Now I know you all though old Rich Rod was something special when he was here and heck I was even excited when Michigan hired him. But these past few years I’ve learned a lot about what it was like to be a Clemson fan during the Bowden days! And it’s starting to feel a lot like that for us Michigan fans now.  Sure it’s only been 2 years, but when your program hasn’t had back to back losing season since you were alive and it’s the winningest  football program in college football history and you have a tradition for winning like the Wolverines, two bad years in a row feel more like 5 or even more. So I ask you, should we M fans begin shouting for Rich Rod’s head and make a coaching change yet?  Many of my brethren up in Michigan have already had enough, they are fed up with the NCAA investigations, player issues losing and controversy that seemed to arrived the very day Rich Rod walked on to campus! They are tired of the losing to Ohio State a team we had dominated for like 10 of the previous 13 years until they changed coaches, they aren’t happy about losing to Michigan State two years in a row, and most of all with the new improvements to the already greatest football stadium in College football they school is worried about its future of filling the seats! So please share your thoughts with this very frustrated Wolverine fan on what we should do. I would like to mention there happens to be this Coach out at Stanford who happened to have a 15 year NFL career and was once the Quarterback at Michigan. And as a kid he grew up on the Michigan campus since his father was once an M assistant Under the Legendary Bo Schembechler. He even played for Bo during his time at Michigan! His name is Jim Harbaugh, and he has turned the Stanford program around and just might win the Pac 10 championship this year. His return to Michigan would fulfill a craving for the Michigan fans to have a “Michigan man” back as head coach; he is a winner and is one of the most popular former players of all time at the school.

The problem I have though is the idea of trying to get him away from where he is right now and also shoving Rich Rod out the door after only two years. I guess what I wanted to know is when do those kind of feelings go away and you just say the hell with it make the damn change and stop the bleeding now. Please share your thoughts with this very frustrated and spoiled on winning Michigan fan on how to handle this problem we face. Thanks s o much and good luck against The Cavaliers this weekend and your possible division championship, I’m feeling jealous already!

Oh thats old number 4 Jimi Harbaugh touching the banner back in the day in the photo included! Go Blue
