What a great year for the South Carolina baseball team, and a fitting end to the history of Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium. Congrats to the Gamecock Nation and thanks for a great season! Can’t wait for football!

The state of being a dad in 2010
Posted in: Uncategorized
Another fathers day a long way from my little one. Boy it just doesn’t get any easier. I thought time would help me learn to deal with these feelings of seperation and missing so much of my daughters day to day life. And I hear her voice yesterday and she sounded older, more grown up and it just hit me like a ton of bricks, man I miss her so much. I wouldn’t trade having my daughter for anything in the world, she means everything to me. But it’s so tough to have her grow up so far away from me. The sense of being ripped off still lingers for me. I only want whats best for my daughter and I just don’t agree with the idea that me being a thousand miles from her is a “good thing”.
Anyway I hope you fathers out there got to spend time with your kids yesterday and took a moment to reflect on how proud you are to be a dad and have those special moments one on one with them. And for my fellow fathers out there who didn’t get to see there kid’s yesterday. Lets us just remember we don’t have it nearly as tough as those men serving around the world in our armed forces doing there duty for this country under circumstances we can’t even imagine!
Truly moving and emotional. Please watch.

An Amber Alert for George Clooney and Al Gore
Posted in: Uncategorized
Something is missing. I looked around and then it hit me. With all the talk about the oil leak in the Gulf something didn’t seem right. Something felt out of balance, wrong with “this picture.”
THEN it dawned on me. Two very important elements have been missing from the landscape with regards to this disaster. George Clooney and Al Gore are AWOL.
George was one of the first to whine about how bad things were in New Orleans when people decided not to leave, got caught by the rising waters….and then blamed the President for failing to “save those poor people.” Now, with the greatest manmade disaster in history continuing on the gulf coast, he can’t be found. No telethon, no pledges of money, no black t-shirt on TV telling us how cold and ineffective or current President is. Nope, George is holed somewhere else, doing other things. Tough S**t if you are in trouble now. He can’t be seen as being critical of HIS President.
Then we have the strange case of Albert Gore, Jr.
You know the man that won an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Nobel for defending the environment. The standard bearer for all things “green.”
Let’s face it, Lumpy has made a fortune bitching about what will happen in 50 years, but has no answers for what’s been happening for the past 50 DAYS.
Big Al, that droning nutsack, apparently has decided to take the money and run. A classic example of someone who was well equipped to point fingers, but not able to pull the trigger with a decent idea.
If you have friends or family dealing with the impact of the BP oil spill, ask them if they have seen George or Al and how much help the Feds have been so far.

This and That, from Here and There.

The pics from the John Boy & Billy Wingding are up and it seems EVERYONE had a great time. The crowd was huge and the mood was “festive”.
Downstate, the Democrats are having less than a fun time. They ran two candidates to try and unseat Jim DeMint. One is a long time pol with very high name recognition and tons of money. The other is an unemployed vet with literally no money that NO ON had heard of. Who won? The broke, out of work vet.
What’s the big deal? Well, he has been charged with a potential sex crime and NOW his OWN party has backed away and wants him to withdraw. The democrats are charging “dirty tricks” against the republicans.
Lets see. The democrats ran two candidates, and voted their choice. They voted for a guy no one heard of, who had no advertising, had been charged with showing porn to an underage girl and can’t string 10 words together in a coherent sentence. So… of course its someone else’s fault he got elected…in their primary…by their registered….democrat voters.
Speaking of the recent election, why can’t the various campaigns be required to pick up ALL their signs or have the county do it and charge them per sign?
Apart from that…I got nothing,

Just a thought ….or two
Posted in: Uncategorized
I like everyone else in the country is getting so annoyed with the lack of real progress in the cleanup efforts in the aftermath of the BP oil spill. I could go into all the issues on both sides of the drilling argument but this blog would never end. I do want to throw out this thought with regard to all the chatter of a Boycott against the oil giant. While I do see the “symbolism” of such a movement, and of course I can see the potential financial damage that so many want to inflict as punshishment for this horrible accident, but here’s another point of view. Why do we want to run the company in the ground when it’s going to take billions of dollars to clean up and compensate people for the damages so many have suffered? See if BP stays in business and we keep buying gas from them, the y will be able to keep spending all those profits by finishing the clean up, and then paying damages to all the people whose lives have be ruined because of the accident. If we say boycott and drive them into bankruptcy, then guess that will end up having to foot the bill for the clean up? Yup the American tax payer and bankruptcy would also mean they wouldn’t have to pay damages to all those people and the economy of the gulf coast would probably never recover. Just a thought on how to do what you do every day, (buy gas), and avoid tax money being used for cleaning the beaches and waterways, and assure that BP is around to compensate those who have lost so much.
The other thought is this. Somebody tell me they are as mad as I am the Yearn Vander Sloot, was given money in a F.B.I. extortion sting, and before the F.B.I. finally decided to open the indictment he took the money he was given in the sting operation, and promptly flew to Peru and allegedly killed another girl. I mean The F.B.I. in Alabama had the evidence, and a sealed indictment in there possession as of May 10th, they could have filed it, got a warrant for his arrest, and had him extradited from Aruba, and this second young lady wouldn’t have been murdered!
