You know some of us get lucky enough in life to be able to have a job that also is our passion. The kind of job you can enjoy and make a good living at all at the same time. I am one of those people, I get to do something I always wanted to do and would do it for free but am damn glad I’m making a living do it !

Well I found another guy who seems to have found the same bablance in life, and then some, some would say. He’s a critic for a local newspaper in Colorado. And here’s where it gets even better, he get to critic one of his favorite pastimes and get paid to do it as often as he wantsor I guess I really should say as much as he NEEDS. See this young man samples and writes reviews on medical marijuana for the locla newspaper. He is the first of his kind in the country and you can bet he’s enjoying his work every single day. Now I do need to clarify things here and mention that this guy does suffer from chronic stomach pain and is legally allowed to used medical grade marijuana for treatment of this problem. So lets make it clear here that he is legal to use the stuff. But with so many MM shops open in the Denver area and throughout the state of Colorado and with all the different types of weed out on the market, it just seems to make sense that there was someone out there who could help these paitent/clients decide what type of weed is for them. It’s at this point in the blog where I can understand the 2 different reactions coming from you all out there, the opened minded/liberal, self styled enlightened thinkers out there saying “well this all sounds like a very good thing” while the more conservative oldschool/traditional thought would be “YA RIGHT! Who’s this guy fooling?” I think this whole issue is symbolic of just how far we’ve come as a country and yet how backwards we still seem to be at the gut level. I admit to be very skeptical when I first read this story, I mean I spent a great deal of my youth and adulthoodb in the marijuana culture, I know what a stoner is and what they are all about lifestyle wise, and believe methey’d all be lining up for the kind of job this guy has. But thats what I mean about looking at marijuana through a outdated prizum. To me it’s clear that there are enough people in the medical community who believe in the benefiits of medical grade marijuana, so why can’t the whole country come to grips with the idea of making available for those people anywhere in the country who might get real medical help for there aliments? Why just Colorado and California? Can only those people feel better using it and if you use it in Indiana you dont’t feel it? What is it? Ithink it’s the fact that there still is so much misinformation or lingering “Reefer Madness” that permiates American society that we have been unable to move past the idea that there just might be something actually benefical from using marijuana at the medical level. I’m not going to sit here today and scream for the total legalization of pot, but I do think it’s time that the federal government and the National medical community come together and finally decide whether the citizens of the country as a whole could be benefiting from medical marijuana. I know we have to deal with the pharmacudical companies to, but if the decision is that it’s good, then of course they’ll get there big piec of the action. It’s just a question this story broguth to my head and please watch the attached story and tell me what you think.http://money.cnn.com/video/news/2010/07/28/n_pot_weed_marijuana_critic.cnnmoney/?hpt=C2

So as I woke up and went out side the other morning, there was a familiar smell in the air, something in that morning breeze that made me want to lay out a bunch of food in the living room, pour myself a giant Diet Coke and get ready to gel in my favorite chair. That smell was FOOTBALL! Who’d ever thought we football fans would get so excited in JULY!!! But these days it seems football comes earlier and earlier every year. Especially the NFL. I think one major reason is television. Between NFL live on ESPN every weekday all winter and spring and of course the NFL network 24 hour football 365, well the season never really seems that far away. These outlet feed your craving through the off season so well that you just feel like it never really ends they just take a short break! And thats really another factor, the camps seem to come a day or two earlier each few years and when we get coverage of mini camps etc it seems the players are there all year round now just tuning up for the next season. Predictions? I think it’s still a tad early for that but I guess I have one I can throw out. Terrell Oewns will not be in any teams training camp and will not get signed til some team finds themselves in a desperate situation either going into or at the beginning of the regular season. It’s to bad he never saw what he was doing all those years earlier but here he is with a chance to cement his place in pro football history and no team wants to bring him and his reputaion to poison there teams chemisrty. I guess even though the league keeps becoming more and more a stars game, it’s still not to far off the team comcept to realize that a player with a attitude like Owens isn’t worth the trouble. Anyway lets get it going Blue ….18…set….

Sometimes I do something really stupid and say after ”what the hell was I doing?” I guess we all have those feelings now and then, and no matter what, life will bring things your way that you either handle correctly or mess up. Sometimes those things are good, sometimes they are bad, you never know which is coming each day but you can bet it’s either one or the other. Some people will say life is what you make it, and I guess I can agree with that. It just sucks when you make your life so much harder than it needs to be and you make mistakes that can cost so much. But again the answer seems to be, “learn from your mistakes” and even though I can understand that idea and try to do that in my life, it still doesn’t change the fact that that mistake you made can never be fixed. All you can do is take the responsibility and deal with the consiquences of that mistake. Yes there are always reasons for that mistake and often one reaches for excuses, but eventually you must face the fact you have done what you done and thats that!. For good or for bad it cuts the same way. You do it, and it’s your fault. And you are then forced to move forward with your mistakes stuffed in to a ever growing bag of stupids that seems to get heavier as time moves on. It’s funny how those things seem to weigh on you so much and burdon your life so negativly, and all the positives in your good bag, never seem to effect your life with the same power but for the positive. You are then faced with the one true fact of life you have to be the one to turn things around in your life. You must dedicate yourself to doing things the right way, but know that you will make more mistakes and instead letting that thought haunt your life or keep you in a negative place, learn to fight through the bad and have faith things will get better. In other words one must stop being a screw up and start being good to ones slef and the others in his or hers life, that way the good will begin to out weigh the bad, hopefully before you die!

I just needed to share these thoughts out loud with you all. It was something I needed to write, read and learn from

Just some random thoughts for you as I try to stay cool in the unbelievable heat. When it’s this hot in early July it makes me wonder how nasty August could be!

How about all this free agent stuff in the NBA. I haven’t been a fan of the NBA the past10-12 years as the game began to drift back into a individual game and lost it’s team style luster. Watching Labron James, Dywane Wade, and Chris Bosch literly hold the league hostage till they decide where to go play and the amount of money that is being talked about for each player I wonder how the league can survive with so many “havenot” teams that can’t compete with revenues less than the big teams it just looks like there is going to be big problems ahead for the league.

Here’s something I wanted to run by you guys too. Do you think it’s appropriate for the following to happen: A woman who was divorced then re-marries and has joint custody of her daughter with her X husband, who is the daughters FATHER/DAD, tells her daughter without talking to the daguthers REAL father to call her new stepfather “DAD”? I find myself in this postion right now and my personal feelings are one of anger, sadness and totally insulted am I over reacting here? Please share your opinion with me, it would help alot!

World cup Sunday Netherlands vs Spain, will you be watching, who are you picking? I’;; take whoever the German Octypus chooses! That damn thing has picked every winner in the cup….EVERYONE! He should be in Vegas ,not in a tank in Munich!

Well just finished taking the most days off in a row that I’ve ever taken in my career and yes it was nice to have that much time to rest and re-charge, but boy it was hard being away from the station. I started to get a little jumpy after 4-5 days feeling like I was in exile! I love my job and the people I work with, enjoy interacting with you the listeners and friends all afternoon everyday! So I damn glad to be back behind the mic and so happy and fortunate I have a job I love and miss when not there, I’m one lucky dude for that.

Enjoyed the World Cup soccer action this year. I’ve been an up and down soccer fan most of my life, but these days with all the international flavor in my family, there was plenty to cheer about. I have a Brother in law and a sister who live in Liverpool England,I have another Brother in Law who’s from Brazil, and My Great Great Grand father and the recently discovered, long time connection for our Family to South Korea through his work there for over 40 years gave me 3 other teams to cheer for besides the USA, the drag is on Brazil was left at the time I wrote this Blog and I think they were losing today last I checked. Anyway I was suprised how I was so excited to get up in the morning to watch various matches, It kind of had that Olympic feel to it.

Just celebrated my Daughters 7th Birthday a few days a go. She still is the apple of my eye and I’m so very proud to be a Dad and to see her growing up to be a very special young lady. I just hate watching it all from 1000 miles away!

Hey everyone have a safe and relaxing 4th of July weekend, and Hope to catch you all out around the pool, or the grill or the fireworks over the weekend.

Another fathers day a long way from my little one. Boy it just doesn’t get any easier. I thought time would help me learn to deal with these feelings of seperation and missing so much of my daughters day to day life. And I hear her voice yesterday and she sounded older, more grown up and it just hit me like a ton of bricks, man I miss her so much. I wouldn’t trade having my daughter for anything in the world, she means everything to me. But it’s so tough to have her grow up so far away from me. The sense of being ripped off still lingers for me. I only want whats best for my daughter and I just don’t agree with the idea that me being a thousand miles from her is a “good thing”.

Anyway I hope you fathers out there got to spend time with your kids yesterday and took a moment to reflect on how proud you are to be a dad and have those special moments one on one with them. And for my fellow fathers out there who didn’t get to see there kid’s yesterday. Lets us just remember we don’t have it nearly as tough as those men serving around the world in our armed forces doing there duty for this country under circumstances we can’t even imagine!

I like everyone else in the country is getting so annoyed with the lack of real progress in the cleanup efforts in the aftermath of the BP oil spill. I could go into all the issues on both sides of the drilling argument but this blog would never end. I do want to throw out this thought with regard to all the chatter of a Boycott against the oil giant. While I do see the “symbolism” of such a movement, and of course I can see the potential financial damage that so many want to inflict as punshishment for this horrible accident, but here’s another point of view. Why do we want to run the company in the ground when it’s going to take billions of dollars to clean up and compensate people for the damages so many have suffered? See if BP stays in business and we keep buying gas from them, the y will be able to keep spending all those profits by finishing the clean up, and then paying damages to all the people whose lives have be ruined because of the accident. If we say boycott and drive them into bankruptcy, then guess that will end up having to foot the bill for the clean up? Yup the American tax payer and bankruptcy would also mean they wouldn’t have to pay damages to all those people and the economy of the gulf coast would probably never recover. Just a thought on how to do what you do every day, (buy gas), and avoid tax money being used for cleaning the beaches and waterways, and assure that BP is around to compensate those who have lost so much.

The other thought is this. Somebody tell me they are as mad as I am the Yearn Vander Sloot, was given money in a F.B.I. extortion sting, and before the F.B.I. finally decided to open the indictment he took the money he was given in the sting operation, and promptly flew to Peru and allegedly killed another girl. I mean The F.B.I. in Alabama had the evidence, and a sealed indictment in there possession as of May 10th, they could have filed it, got a warrant for his arrest, and had him extradited from Aruba, and this second young lady wouldn’t have been murdered!

Ok so I told you all that I was going to put the spot light on all the insane driving going on all over Woodruff road and I would expose those people who are causing so much traffic and stress for the rest of us drivers out there. Well congratulations we have our very first “WOODRUFF ROAD WEENIE OF THE WEEK”. This person pulled off a classic today and let me share it with you. Ok people including myself are in the drive next to a tire store on Woodruff road to turn right onto Woodruff. Just before the drive we are all sitting in is construction going on on Woodruff rd. This traffic is blocking the right lane so that the right lane is wide open with no traffic and no reason for anyone turning right to have an issue or reason not to just TURN RIGHT!. I was the second car back and as 1 minute turned to 2 MINUTES and the guy still hadn’t turned yet. I noticed that the car in between me and this idiot was honking his horn and waving his arms, I also noticed that there are now 10 cars behind me wanting to turn too. Still this guys couldn’t find a way to turn into a wide open lane with no traffic. Well I got out of my car, walked up to his window and pointed out that the lane was open and even a little child could see that! It was as if I had jus woke him up and he looked and me and….TURNED! As I walked back to my car I could see some of the people clapping and smiling after seeing what I had done! Look this one guy made his own traffic jam just by not paying attention. Again I ask those of you who can’t drive and pay attention and have some common sense while driving, STAY OFF WOODRUFF RD! So if any of you see any of this kind of stupid type of driving. Please let us know, you might have found our next WOODRUFF ROAD WEENIE OF THE WEEK!Here is our picture of the WEENIE OF THE WEEK!

I mean the sad thing is he didn’t move for over 2 minutes and then when I got to where I could take his picture he was actually driving!

Yes I’ve had enough is the title of a great song from the Who but its also how I feel about you simpletons that come down and drive on Garlington/Woodruff Rds. I Give you a break every Holiday season because there are so many of you that drive to the various shops we have around the area. But as a person who lives and works in the area around Garlington Rd, and Woodruff I have a message for you.STAY AWAY FROM HERE. I am so damn sick and tired of watching you all create so many traffic problems on this road. Lets do a laundry list of your stupid driving behavior, driving 30 in a 45. what the hell is that all about? weaving in and out of the lfet turn lane? Thats how a drunk driver drives! Pulling up and slowing down at every store entrance? Maybe you should know what store your going to before you drive out and get in everyones way. Pulling up to a red light in the right turn lane and then not turning right at the intersection but a block or to later.! THIS IS THE ONE THAT DRIVES ME MAD. Talking, txting, or putting makeup on or reading something while your driving? Stop putting my life and everyone elses around you at risk for the love of god. Or how about how when the light turns green and it take you up 5-7 seconds to actually start going.(I know it I time you everyday).

Well I’ve decided to take matters into my own hands, As of today. when i see ANY OF YOU doing anything like what I’ve described above. I am going to take a picture of you and your car with my camera, and publish that picture and your tag number right here on my blog page and the station pages too!So for all of you who block drive ways and not let people turn on to the roads, for all of you who won’t allow the employees at the station to pull out of our drive way and go home like everyone else , AND FOR ALL OF YOU WHO BLOCK UP RIGHT TURN LANES AND DONT EVEN TURN, be aware, what I’m going to to do from now on. Oh and don’t think sneaking around the back way down Garlington and Roper Mountain makes you any better. Get on the damn Freeway and stay off our roads. It should NEVER take me 26 minutes to get to work when I live less than 2 miles from the station. An as the Late George Carlin once suggested, I’m going to propose that the city allows us to have stupid flags we can stick on the back of cars of peoiple who do all these idiotic things. See we can all have these little toy dart guns thet allow us to shoot a stupid flag that will stick to your car then when the cops see you have like 10 of them on your car they can just remove you from the road and take your keys away. I’m sure of it right now, more of you are going to die or kill someone else txting or talking on your phones in the next 12 month than drunk drives will!

Got to attend the Open house for the new ECHL Hockey franchise for Greenville last night at the Bilo Center. Wow it was like a hockey Family reunion! It was so great to see all my old hockey friends and see all the Growwwl fans come out to show support the new team. And to see all the great crew I got to work with as the announcer of the Growwwl man it was a special night. I can’t say enough about Neil Smith and what a lucky town we are to have him decide to bring his Hockey team to Greenville. The one word that keeps coming up when I think of Mr Smith is CLASS! He truly believes in Greenville and all of us hockey fans, he wants to give us a team, a coach, and players to be proud of! We are so fortunate to have a real “Hockey man” owning this team, the man who brought Messier to NY to help the rangers win the cup, a true hockey legend! And for all of us who love the game, well we all know how great it is and that as we held out hope a team would come to our city again, I don’t think we could have been any more lucky with who brought that team to town! But for all of you “skeptic’s” I only ask that you come out and try hockey. Come sit in the stands and see what a seriously entertaining game it can be. You don’t need to know the rules to love this game, you just have to see it for yourself and I know you’ll enjoy what you are seeing! I just want to say we have a great owner and his staff is top notch and I have total faith in whoever it is Neil picks for our new coach and the players and affiliations he brings to our franchise! And again thanks to all you folks who’ve told me you’d like to hear my voice as the P.A. announcer for this new team. All I can say is I would love to do it again and to be able to be a part of whats going to be a great time at the old ice rink for everyone in the upstate. And please share your positive support for me with the organization at hockeygreenville.com! Can’t wait for the new team name, colors, and the season to start! Man the NHL season isn’t even over and all hockey fans in Greenville can think about is lets drop the puck on a new season! Thanks Mr. Smith for choosing Greenville for your team I know we have a loyal army of hockey fans who all feel the same and can’t wait tosee what you have to give us! Hockey night in Greenville, now thats sounds good eh?
