More Turkeys than I can handle

Posted in: Uncategorized

Well I never thought I’d be so excited to see college football come to the end of the season like I am this year. Being a lifelong Michigan fan I’ve been so fortunate to have enjoy years and years of successful winning football. For Michigan fans around my age, I have to say we were one spoiled bunch when it came to winning football games. Since 1969 when we upset Ohio State 24-12 to begin the Schembechler era we never really had what you could call a bad season except 1984. Which was as tough a year I can ever remember when we went 6-6-0. One season since 1969! Remember 1971-1974? We went 43-3-1 and we only went to 1 bowl game because of the stupid big ten rules at the time. Remember those days when we’d beat team like Iowa 63-0 or when we won like 12 out 13 games from Ohio State in the 90’s? Oh I do miss John Cooper! Or how about 1997, the National Championship? Or the fact that Michigan is still the winningest Div 1 college football team of all time.So when the cold Michigan wins blow this off season and you feel like the world just isn’t as great place anymore (football wise), just remember My fellow Wolverines, This was just one season. One.  in the past 40 years of great M football tradition one like 1984, which we returned to the big house in 1985 to post a 10-1-0 season. So let’s Give the Coach a break and be ready for great things to happen. But I will say this one thing to Coach Rodriguez. Don’t treat us to another 3-9 season dude. Michigan winters suck enough when your team is winning and remember how bad it will suck this winter after this season. That should keep you motivated going into 2009.     Speaking of Michigan, I’m heading home to be with family over the thanksgiving holiday. I’m looking forward to seeing family and friends, feeling that cold wind cut through the layers of clothing, numbing my face, making my eyes water, arguing with my sister, debating politics with the old man and most of all seeing those Detroit Lions on TV for the annual thanksgiving day game! Wait a minute; they haven’t even won a game this year!  Well they are always dangerous on Thanksgiving though! And besides I think there is a big college Hockey Tournament on TV this week too. Thank god for Hockey, I don’t have to even ponder the pig skin till next year Cause we aren’t going to a bowl this year. MAN THAT SUCKS!!!
