So long Shaq!

Posted in: Uncategorized

For a big part of his 19 year career I wasn’t the biggest fan of  Shaquille O’Neil, but it was about 7-8 years ago I started to really get him as a person. His is a very smart, funny.talented, and decent dude! And now that the Diesl is calling it quits the debate begins, where does he fit on the all time list. I’m not one who agree’s with the vast majority of people that he must me in the top 5 centers of all time. I think the sticking point for me is how Bill Russell continues to be thought of as the best center of all time. Yes he won 11 championships, but he also played one one of the greatest teams in NBA history, everyone he played with went to the hall of fame too! He had incredible skills, and out played everyone he faced except one man….WILT CHAMBERLIN! Wilt man handled Russell for years on a one on one basis, so to me I think this list should look a little different than the so called experts say it should be! My list of greatest centers would go like this: 1. Kareem Abdul Jabbar 2. Wilt Chamberlin 3. Akeem Olyjuwan 4. Sahquille O’Neil 5.TIE: Bill Russell and Moses Malone. Many of you might wonder how I could rank Akeem so high? Well I got to watch him play every game  except the last 2 years of his career. I watched him School Ewing and O’Neil in back to back finals wins and I watched him battle to a virtual tie in his years against a much older Jabbar! Simply put ,in the era of the last of the great center years, Olyjuwan was the best at his position. And yet he was barely 6′10″! Biased YES I AM, but you look at the stats and they don’t lie. Ask Shaquille who he learned more from about being a center than any other player….AKEEM, Shaq said that after he was schooled by Olyjuwan in the Championships while in Orlando, he learned a valuable lesson on how a big man has to move his feet and be quicker!  And for all you who want to defend Bill Russell as ranked higher than Akeem. Here’s a fact, Olyjuwans defense was every bit as good as Russells, but he blows big Bill out of the water on the offensive side too!  Hey they were all great and I miss the era of the BIG MAN. Basketball was alot more fun to watch when they ruled the floor!

Now whats he gonna do?

Posted in: Uncategorized

When doomsday Preacher Harold Camping Woke up on Sunday and found the world and all it’s people still intact, I wonder how he felt. I wonder how many e-mails he recieved, voice mail messages, etc? I wonder what people were saying to him, all those people who pulled there kids out of school, did crazy things with there money, and threw there lives away believing the end was near.

I bet it wasn’t a very good last couple days for him! And so what does the eldery man from Oaklnad Calif. have to say about his prediction being wrong? Well he says he wasn’t wrong! WASN’T WRONG? WTH! He says that it was really the begining of the SPIRITUAL END and that the Physical end, the one we were all expecting to see and experience will not be coming till October! REEEAAAALLLLLLYYYY Mr. Camping? We are supposed to believe you now? I want to laugh but the sad thing there were plenty of people who believed him on the 1st one and probably some of them are still believing him now. My question is this…. where are these people and what kind of bill a goods can I sell them to make me a rich man and laugh all the way to the bank? All I know is that this earth can’t and wont last forever, and whenit does decide to rid it’s self of all living things, we will not have a damn thing say about it. So lets try to enjoy life everyday appreciate what we have, be good to each other, and just stop sweating it so much!

It was fun while it lasted?

Posted in: Uncategorized

Even if you don’t believe that tomorrow is the end of days, the Raputre, etc, I bet most of you have taken a moment or two to refelect and wonder,”what if these crazies are right?” I mean we are talking Bible here and according to these folks it makes it clear we are either gonna die and our bodies will rot all over  the planet as we spend eternity in Hell or we rise to heaven with the Big guy above. I was thinking if I really did believe that tomorrow was it, would it really be a bad thing? I mean I would hate that I’m not with my daughter, and my family, but heck we’d all be up in heaven together the next day anyway so why waste the airfare and travle time when The Lord will be picking up that tab for me over the weekend.

Another thing is I hate that I will get to witness the end of humanity and not be able to share it and talk about it with others afterwards, that just sucks, I mean it won’t even matter if you remember where you were when it started cause you’ll be gone anyway. I could go on and on about this and waste the better part of my last day on earth wondering why, wondering did I do right by my god, my family, my friends, did I matter in the time i was alive?

Ah hell, what does it matter anyway, If we are all here tomorrow then great, I get alot crap to do and clean my damn apartment which I’ve been putting off just cause of all this! All those doom sayers will look like total idiots STILL, and it’s back to work on Monday. And if it does happen? Well as the song says, “Lenny Bruce is not afraid”… well of course he’s not, he’s already DEAD! But I do like the idea of ” time i had some time alone”….

Another falling star

Posted in: Uncategorized

When Arnold Schwarzenegger’s wife Maria Shriver decided to seperate from him a few weeks ago, I like everyone wondered WTH? Was it because he got out of politic’s and wanted to get back into movies. Was it another report of him gropping a woman that was about to come out? NO it was a 10 year old love child he had with a housekeeper! Since this was brought out to the public, the first thing everyone seems to ask as well as myself, how the hell did he keep that a secret for that  long? And the first vision I had was can’t anybody see that this kid looks like Stewie from Family guy when he took steroids, a little kid going around lifting up cars by the bumpers and speaking austrian and nobody notices? Ok sorry just being silly for a second there.

I think the thing that is interesting about this whole thing is how much society has changed in our life times We are so amazed that someone in the public could keep something like this out of the public for that long these days because of the massive amount of snoopy, sleazy, journalism and social media we have, it really is shocking that he could have kept this a secret for so long.

Years ago so many public figures seemed to be able to keep there closets closed and keep there families dirty laundry from the public for as long as they wanted. It’s was a time where news people would just choose to respect the privacy of  a public figures in politic’s or sports, movies, TV, or music all seemed to be able to count on that. Or at the very least dismiss anything that did get to the light of day as a “crazy rumor”.

Now days, digging up dirt on anyone who’s famous is a billion dollar industry. And I’m right in the middle of it, having the job I have. Being in the media, it’s a weird place to be. On one hand I’m the one who is sitting here writing a blog about this stuff, and over night something I did could become a news story and I could be the one being humiliated and having my life ruined.

So I guess thats why I always feel bad for people who become the talk of the day around the water cooler and being judged around every dinner table in the country each night. Sure they did something wrong, and in the relm of there families they will be punished and  face the conciquences of there actions. But do we all have the right to judge them and throw mud at these people? After all think if you did something like cheated on your wife,or husband and the next day the whole city was talking about it, your face on the TV ,in the newpaper(well maybe a couple people might see you in the newspaper that is)! I can see how that we feel we have a right to know what famous people are doing wrong, I mean we do watch there movies, buy there music, and elect them to office, it just seems like we enjoy it a little to much sometimes.

Whats a fan to do?

Posted in: Uncategorized

Ok so you all know I’m a HUGE Detroit Red Wing fan. And for those of you who follow the NHL you know that the Wings just evened the series with San Jose’ 3 games a piece after trailing 3-0. This is a rare and amazing feat they have just pulled off. And they are now in a position to win the series, if they can beat the Sharks in San Jose’ Thursday night.

Here’s my problem. After watching the Wings lose the 1st 3 games of  the series I made Crazy choice out of  being so disappointed. I said I would not watch them play if they weren’t going to give a better effort than what they had up to this point.I said I would care about my team anymore unless they came back to tie the series! So I have missed all 3 wins! This was not an easy thing to do, knowing the games were on and knowing the season was basically over a week ago! But now here we are, they have a chance to win game 7 Thursday and now what do I do? Should I tune in Thursday night, risking  jinxing  the chance they could lose. Which would mean I watched all the losses and missed all of the wins in the come back which would just make me ill, or do I watch hoping the win and I get to see them do it and then get back to following them through the rest of the playoffs? Oh man I don’t want to be the thing that somehow upsets the balance of the universe and cause them to lose, but Damn I don’t want to miss seeing them win a Game 7 and complete a HISTORIC come back! What to do, WHAT TO DO!

Wait Oh yes, thank god for Modern Technology! I will DVR the game! But what if I wig out waiting to see what happens and I start to watch? Ok here’s the deal, if I do turn the game on and I see San Jose’ score as soon as I tune in, i’ll just turn the game off right then. But, what if that is the only goal of the game and the Wings lose 1-0 on the goal that San Jose’ scored when I turned the game on! OMG HELP THIS CRAZY WING NUT MAKE IT THROUGH THE NEXT 2 DAYS!

looking back and ahead

Posted in: Uncategorized

Well it was a week that started with the announcement that we finally got that damn Bin Laden, I couldn’t be more proud of our armed forces and the job they have done.

Also just want to take my hat off to the City and the Organizers of the Republican Debate this week at the Peace Center. Greenville looked great on National TV! It was a very positive week for our city!

Just a heads for all of you, be sure to tune in to my show Monday afternoon for a big Concert announcement, I have no doubt that you will all be very happy when you hear this one!

Want to wish all the mothers out there a very Happy Mothers day. I  like many of you owe alot to my mom for all she’s done for me over the years. I love you Mom and I couldn’t have made to this point without your love and support!

Oh and just so you are all aware, Al Qeada says we Americans are now offically cursed because of the death of Bin Laden. Ya sure, OK, FINE. We sure treated his remains and death alot better than they have ever treated an americans death, so lets just see who GOD curses, you jack asses!

Proud to be an American

Posted in: Uncategorized

Waking up to the news of Bin Laden’s death left me stunned for a moment. But then all the memories of 911 came rushing back into my head. All the horror and helplessness that we all felt that dark day and have had to live with all these years suddenly faded a little. It will never go away, but knowing justice was served in that compound in Pakistan does give this American satisfaction!

The so called Mansion appears to be nothing more then a dump, it was nice to know Bin Laden was living like a bumb all this time, kind of like finding Hussan in that hole, we know both of these evil people were not living the high life after the horrible things they had done.

My question now is, does this really make a difference in the battle against terror? The simple answer is probably not very much. But I don’t think thats what we were hoping for or expecting anyway. I just hope the pain and sadness that all those who lost  loved ones during 911 and two wars that have followed will lesson some.

It was in deed a very special day for America, and if  memory serves me, I do believe we rid the world of serious scum, on the same date that 66 years ago Adolph Hitler was found dead in his Bunker! Kind of interesting, and they both are burning in hell together!

Thank you Road Warriors and the fans too!

Posted in: Uncategorized

Well there is no greater pain for a fan or for the players then to lose a game 7 in the playoff  in overtime. So I do understand everyones disappointment today as the season has come to an end for our New Hockey team. But I want to celebrate this season and this team despite the sting of being eliminated from the playoffs. Celebrate the fact we have a team again, celebrate that our team was damn good. Celebrate that Neil Smith had the vision and belief in Greenville and the fans here to put his team in the Bilo Center and give us hockey back.

Thanks Mr. Smith, and thank you to the whole Road Warrior team, staff, and those in the front office for making this a great 201-2011 for Upstate Hockey fans. And thank you to all of you who spent your hard earned money to come out and support the team! I think this is the start of something very special here, and if this years team is any indication, we just might be getting that Kelly Cup back in the upstate again real soon!

President Trump? and Not Happy Days

Posted in: Uncategorized

So let’s be honest. Aren’t you just a little curious as to what kind of world it would be if the Donald did become President? I mean here’s one guy who wouldn’t be afraid to say what he feels when it comes to the Leaders in the Middle East or China. I do love the in your face talk that he brings to the table. But at the same time, would that be the best way for our Country to move forward and become the dominate force in Business and world influence we once were? Some seem to think this would be the worst thing to happen for us, but if you just take a second to look, it’s the way Donald Trump has built the monster corporation that he is!. Folks this man is a lot smarter than many people give him credit for, and he’s probably got the best grasp on just good capitalism can be, if it’s run correctly!

Speaking of good old fashion capitalism gone bad, have you heard what CBS has been doing to the cast of Happy Days? Well they (CBS) took control of the Happy Days Franchise from Paramount a few years ago they haven’t been paying royalties to cast members for merchandise sales! They have an agreement that requires they pay each cast member a certain % of each sale, but they haven’t been for quite some time. One cast Member even lost her house this past year because she wasn’t receiving the money she was due! Let’s face it Henry Winkler and Ron Howard probably don’t care about not being paid, but if your Anson Williams or Don (Donnie) Most you probably really need those checks! You’d think CBS would step up and pay these pass due amounts “Happily” but no, that’s not the corporate way. They will fight it out in Court, spend twice as much as they owe these cast member on legal fee’s only to settle and pay them %75 on  the dollar.

And that is my one big worry about Donald Trump, yes he does get results but the way he goes about getting those results worries me! So I’m Voting for “The Fonz”, I mean all he has to do it punch the economy in the side of it’s head and boom it will all be better!
